Jessica Board is heading to the US in August to start her college tennis career with Abilene Christian University in Texas.

“It has been a long-term goal of mine to gain a US college scholarship and something I’ve been working towards since I realised it was a great pathway to improve my tennis.

”Navigating the decision of which university to attend can be a difficult decision and for Board several factors contributed to choosing the division one ACU. “I chose ACU because the facilities are amazing, and the program and conference look strong and will provide a good environment for me to participate in. I spoke with the coach and some of the girls on the team and really liked the attitude to coaching and tennis with the offer being too good to refuse.

”Board will be doing a finance degree in her time at ACU and can’t wait to combine her studies with her tennis, “following on from my really positive experiences at Kooyong I’m most looking forward to being in another environment that will help me become the best tennis player I can be. I am also really looking forward to meeting people from a wide range of different cultures and learning about their lives while attending the University.”

“My immediate goals would be to help ACU become a stronger team within their conference and post college see where tennis can take me.”
