Koharu Nishikawa has won her first ITF Junior Singles title in The Hague, Netherlands.

The 15-year-old junior star seeded 8th for the event won a hard-fought final versus Dutch junior 2nd seed Britt Du Pree 6-4, 1-6, 7-5. The win is a breakthrough on the singles court for Nishikawa who has won two ITF junior doubles titles and come close several times in singles. “I’ve just been trying to focus on getting better every day and playing every point best I can. I wasn’t really expecting to win so I guess it makes it even more special.”

Nishikawa is currently part of a selected junior touring team from Australia playing ITF events across Europe that also includes fellow Foundation player and Kooyong State Grade teammate Ava Beck, she'll look to continue her form for the remainder of the tour. “I’ve got two more tournaments this trip so I’m just going to keep giving it everything I have!”

“I’m pretty happy to get the win and I’d like to thank everyone from Kooyong/ The Foundation for allthe support and help they do for the Foundation players."
