Nicolas Tremblay will continue his tennis journey in the greater Boston area after signing with Tufts University in the USA.
Winner of the recent U/21 Junior Boys Singles title at Kooyong's Club Championships, Tremblay relocated from Darwin to Melbourne over three years ago, joining Kooyong on a Foundation scholarship.
He was a boarder at Wesley College, graduating in 2023 with high academic honours as well as leading the firsts tennis team to multiple APS premierships.
What made you choose Tufts University over others?
"I was looking for a highly selective College with both a strong academic reputation and a strong, supportive tennis program, and one where I would be a regular member of the playing team. I was looking for a mid-size college in a big city that had excellent on-site tennis facilities. Tufts arguably plays in the strongest Division III Conference, the NESCAC. They made the final of the National Division III Championships last year, and one of the team was the individual National Division III champion."
What will you study?
"I’ll be studying engineering, probably civil, and hope to double major in economics."
What are your goals tennis wise?
"I’m excited to see how far I can go training intensively with Karl Gregor, Head Coach, and the rest of the team. In the short term, I want to help the team win the National Division III Championship, and I’d like to win the individual Championship too. I’d also like to start building my ATP points."
Anything else you are looking forward to with the US College experience?
"I’ll be studying in Boston, so I’m looking forward to exploring the city. It will be great to make new friends and share college life with students from across the world. Travelling around the US for tennis matches, tournaments and work will be an amazing experience."
